Supplier: Zoppas Industries Heating Element Technologies (ZIHET)
Supply chain update:
Over the next 12 months ZIHET is advancing innovation in thermal management for space applications by launching and qualifying 3 ground-breaking products under European Space Agency – ESA standards.
These cutting-edge solutions, designed with reliability, performance, and integration simplicity in mind, are set to reshape the way heating systems are implemented in space missions. They are described in more detail below:
1. High-Temperature Polyimide Heater
The ultimate high-performance heater for extreme environments, engineered to achieve temperatures up to +260°C with specific power ratings of up to 15W/cm².
Its ultra-thin profile and superior thermal transmission make it ideal for demanding applications.
Optimized for long-duration missions, this heater boasts low outgassing, enhanced radiation hardness, and a fluoropolymer-free design for greater sustainability in compliance with potential future REACH restrictions.
Whether for interplanetary exploration or critical thermal management, this heater delivers unmatched efficiency and durability.
2. Integrated Sensor Heater
A flexible heater with an embedded temperature sensor (available in ESCC qualified PT100, PT1000, NTC, or thermocouple configurations) for precise thermal monitoring and control.
This innovative design streamlines both ground testing and in-flight operations, ensuring optimal thermal performance.
It enables users to easily calibrate power inputs and validate performance per ECSS standards, reducing integration complexity while enhancing reliability.
3. Connectorized Heater
Simplifying satellite integration and revolutionizing thermal system connectivity, this heater comes equipped with pre-attached crimped connectors, eliminating in situ manual cable connections.
Designed for highly serialized production environments, such as commercial constellations or New Space applications, it accelerates assembly while ensuring maintenance-friendly integration.
Backed by IPC 610/620 and ESA ECSS-ST-Q-70-26C certifications, ZIHET guarantees the highest levels of quality and reliability in both components and processes.
Alessandra Marcer, Application Engineer for Space at ZIHET, explains:
“These innovations will be part of the ESA Qualified Parts List (QPL) by the end of 2025, ensuring compliance with the most stringent standards in the industry. Items will be available for the global space market for pre-order by Q3-2025.”
